Henry Alexander Chouinard

March 31, 2005 – September 26, 2023

Henry you were always fun to be around, had an amazing work ethic, and great sense of humor. Which was all connected together by his amazing mullet/mustache combo! While our time was brief in between classes at the gym, I will always cherish the time I had with you. Thank you for being a bright light to those around you.

We have so many memories with Henry it is hard to even begin. Anyone that knows Henry knows when he loved he loved big, and I feel very fortunate that our family got to experience his love. He was like a brother to my girls and like a son to my husband and I. So although I could go on all day with memories and laugh about so many of them, the main one I want to leave here is about love and family…it is something we will all be thankful we got to share with him and the best memory that we will hold dearly in our hearts forever.

Henry had the best dry sense of humor. I first met Henry when he walked into the CrossFit gym with his family. I was lifting in the corner as he was looking around. Shortly after that he was lifting in barbell club with me. And even sooner his 13 year old self was lifting more weight than I was at 30 something. He never outrightly shoved it in my face. Just subtly at the right moments to make it sting a little extra. I loved the determination he had and his work ethic was like no other teen I had seen. When he set out to learn something or accomplish a feat… he’d figure it out. He was a cool kid without trying too hard to be. He lived life so passionately and fully. I love you Henry and am blessed to have known you and seen you grow into a young man. I miss you and can’t wait to see you again.

Henry is a sweet loving kid. I always enjoyed hearing stories from Celina about how smart and innovative Henry was. One day I asked her, how do you get the boys to clean your base boards at such a young age? Celina told me that she offered to pay Henry, then Henry sub-contracted Jackson to do the actual work for less. Smart, resourceful and a proper big brother. He seemed to get a lot of love and joy by making his family proud. It’s amazing to see what an inspiring young man he was becoming and how he touched so many. My heart goes out to everyone that knew and loved him.

We met Henry & his family in early 2018, shortly after they moved to Idaho. He was a staple at our gym, known by just about everyone that went there. He eventually focused his fitness on weightlifting and had great success at local and national competitions. My wife and I became close friends with Henry and his family, meeting up for regular dinners, birthdays, and even celebrating holidays. Henry was always an old soul, who didn’t seem to know a stranger, and could hold a conversation with adults anywhere he went. While we saw him less at get togethers in recent years, I always enjoyed hearing about how he was doing, and how he had become such a hardworking young man. His dry sense of humor never failed to make us laugh. We miss you very much, Henry, and look forward to seeing you again one day.

Henry is my first grandchild and from the moment he came into this world he had an appetite, a big appetite, an appetite for life, an appetite for helping people whenever and wherever he could, and appetite for fun and goofiness with his own wonderful personality, and an appetite for all the exciting foods that life had to offer, I loved to take him out to eat because of how much he enjoyed it. Henry had ambition. He was like most young men starting to search for what he wanted in life. There was talk of being a welder, there was talk of being a lineman, he was great with his hands, and loved working on things. Whenever I would see him, his expressions were clear as a light switch going on, and when that smile came out, it was as bright as the sun. The times I have spent with Henry and his brother have always been extra special as they were never enough! Shooting BB guns when he was younger, riding the motorcycle, fishing, and just playing and hanging out. I love you, Henry I will miss our texts and phone calls & touching base once in a while. But you will always be in my mind and in my heart, I know you’re working your butt off up in heaven helping everyone and I will see you when my time comes. Love you Henry.

This is one of my favorite photos and memories with Henry. I was just on my way back to boise from California, we stopped by their place. Where Henry and I got some sick matching mullets from Jeff in their garage. My mom was horrified. The second photo another haircut that Jeff gave us. Henry rocked that bowl haircut. I’m going to miss him.

Henry could bring a laugh or smile to any company gathering we had. The stories and memories he made around our Urness Industries team will always be remembered. I also had the privilege of being close neighbors with Henry and the family. He was a bright kid with a bright future. You’ll be missed bud! Can’t wait for the laughs and stories to be had when we meet again! It’s not good bye it just see you later!

I knew Henry for the past couple years. He was my neighbor and he worked for an excavation contractor that did some work at my house. My best memory of Henry was his “old soul” – when I first met him at my place and after talking with him I thought he was in his early 20’s. He was only 17! But Henry had a full time job and was so humble and hard working for his age. Henry helped dig a pond in the front of our property as well as some landscape features- I will always think of Henry when I look out at that pond.

Henry always brought me joy in a day when he would randomly call me after we hadn’t talked in a while. He would always have some crazy story about the day he had. My favorite memory of him was one day in my science class freshman year, we had been talking about mercury and mercury poisoning, how there was mercury in some lights but not the ones in the school. Our teacher had said that if a light with mercury in it broke, the whole school would have to close for weeks. Henry immediately said “well I’ll bring my own damn mercury” and i couldn’t tell you why it was so funny, but it just was. He made me smile every single day I got to have anything to do with him.

Relation to Henry:  I sat next to Henry every day at lunch for a year and a half, i went to my freshman homecoming and tip off with him too

When we moved to Meridian, I trained at CrossFit Fireside. I did my own training so I was on my own a lot except for the days Henry was lifting. We chatted about life and high school and lifting and I always enjoyed his humor and kindness. Our exchanges were simple, but I remember how nice it felt to have a buddy in the empty side of the gym. Even in our brief exchanges, he made a difference.

Relation to Henry:  I met Henry at CF Fireside and through Jeff and Celina.

I miss that kid more and more everyday. From his random calls asking me to pick him up from work to telling me about his day. I am so honored to know henry for almost 3 years. He was truly someone who would work for anyone and always had the craziest sense of humor. I always loved hanging out with him and Drayson or watching them work on a truck or a tractor 🫶🏻
